MPFS 12 - Magna Competition - Sander Van Doorn

Morning all, hope this mailer sees you well. Few things today, first off the up and coming release of MPFS012 – Reminder featuring MQue – Eye to Eye. Remixes by Store N Forward, Robimon and Shadow, there's sure to be something in there to put a smile on your face and a tap on your feet. Support from Ferry Corsten, Graham Gold, Solarstone to name but a few also means you'll have a hot piece of music in your box too, and lets face it its all about being cool. What I'm trying to say is please buy our music, our children need new shoes for school, our wives threaten to leave us for dustbin men and our morel sinks to new levels when McDonalds staff are on the property ladder.

For more information and a jazz at some samples visit the forums here. I'll make you a deal, if the thread in question receives more than 2000 views (that's less than half the amount of people who receive this mailer) before Jesus's resurrection I'll give you all a forthcoming track of ours for free. No cheating either, I'm aware you can hold f5 on your keyboard down to refresh the page hits, it does record where the hits have come from and at what time so none of it!

Crasher Resurrection

Fancy tickets? We have two. You know the drill by now, read the press release below, answer two easy questions relating to said press release, mail your answers to grahamj@mpfspromotions.com before March the 17th and if you're lucky and supply photos of your tits you could win those tickets. Good stuff.

By now notorious for its awe inspiring events, Gatecrasher are set for a return to the vast Magna venue. After white washing the industrial expanse with a monstrous event on Boxing Day, Crasher brings you The Resurrection.

Transforming Magna once again -The Crasher combustion chamber is due for ignition on the 22nd March 2008. Always pushing the boundaries, the DJ line up is a diverse selection of past, present and future talent.

Headlining is one of the greatest producers of all time, Ferry Corsten. A genuine legend and dynamic force in dance-music, Ferry Corsten is widely respected and has been hugely influential in the industry. He has received multiple awards and accolades over the years reflecting his commitment and contribution to the scene. Having played many times for Gatecrasher, he has without fail torn the place apart on every occasion. It’s been a while since the Dutchman graced the Crasher stage, so it’s with great pleasure we welcome Ferry Corsten back to do the damage as only he knows how.

Also bringing the beat therapy, Gatecrasher are excited to welcome back the UK’s finest, Eddie Halliwell. Globally recognised as one of the most technically gifted & talented DJ’s to emerge from the dance music scene in recent years, Eddie Halliwell always takes the roof off with his mind blowing performances. Eddie is a DJ who literally lives and breathes dance music, spending every spare moment mastering new mixes and trying to improve his technical abilities. It’s this dedication and passion that has helped propel him to become one of the scenes most respected and inspiring DJ’s. Always maintaining that special connection with the Crasher crowd, Magna is the perfect stage for Eddie Halliwell to set ablaze!

Another familiar face behind the Crasher decks, Radio 1’s Judge Jules will be bringing his box of top notch tuneage to crank the main arena. After his recent solo release ‘Laid Bare’, Jules has been in the studio with BK – producing some fierce new material. His contribution to dance music in the UK is significant and he has been instrumental in breaking numerous new producers & upcoming DJ’s. Known for dropping some of the biggest anthems in history he has been blitzing the Crasher dance-floor for over a decade. Always one for the big occasion, Jules is often the catalyst for an explosive party!

Returning for his second Crasher gig, Markus Schulz has built a strong following in a short space of time. Infusing deep progressive with liquid, smooth trance his productions have been hammered by all the top DJ’s. Markus Schulz’s radio show - Global DJ Broadcast is now one of the most popular in the world and he is responsible for showcasing some of the best new producers in the scene. Renowned for his set building skills, this classically trained musician has become one of the most in demand DJ’s on the circuit. Making some of the biggest tracks of recent years, Gatecrasher awaits his Magna performance with great anticipation!

Also bringing some fresh appeal, Ronald Van Gelderen has risen the Dutch ranks to become one of their latest successful exports. After releasing some beastly tunes over recent years, his latest release, ‘Dirty Rocker’ has been picked up by Marcel Woods label – High Contrast Recordings. An enigmatic rock styled character, Ronald Van Gelderen uses his own vocals on productions and has been known to sing ‘live’ at gigs. Fusing tech and punk with block rocking beats, RVG will be bringing his own breed of filth to Crasher!

Joining him will be Orkidea, another much awaited debut for the man who brought us ‘Unity’ one of Crasher’s biggest anthems ever! Included on Gatecrasher’s infamous ‘Red’ compilation ‘Unity’ is considered one of the classics of all time. Hailing from Finland, Orkidea brings the kind of sound that trance was invented for. Evocative melodies and emotive breaks, he has won a legion of fans with his Nordic style. Coinciding with his Album Release tour, Orkidea is due to drop some exclusive new material and future club anthems, alongside an exclusive ‘Classics’ set in Room 2. After a lengthy wait we cannot wait for Orkidea’s Gatecrasher debut!

Residents, Riley & Durrant complete the incredible main room line up. Always on hand to tear the lid off R&D style, they know exactly what makes the Crasher crowd get fired up!

Room 2 brings you all the ‘Classic’ defining moments trance is known for. With exclusive sets from the main room DJ’s alongside JFK and Paul Kershaw, the arena will be dripping with nostalgia for this trip back into Crasher’s history vault. Bringing you the forgotten and unforgettable ‘Classics’ that made trance an institution, Room 2 offers a blast from Crasher’s past. Alongside a veritable wonderland of blinding visuals and earth shattering sounds, The Resurrection is upon us.

Sander Van Doorn - Supernaturalistic

Whilst I'm trying to sort out an interview with the fast become legend that is Sander Van Doorn I thought you'd like to know he has a new album out, available in the usual places, hmv, beatport etc. We've had a few SVD tracks come through MPFS towers, Riff and By Any Demand to name but two, all received good feedback. Check out the press release below and head on over to download stores now for your copy.

The lad from Eindhoven is back with his much awaited debut artist album Supernaturalistic.

After the massive singles Grasshopper, By Any Demand and Riff which all appear on this album, Sander returns to drop 12 tracks of high calibre electronic music seamlessly weaving between calm & atmospheric, transcendently trippy & trancey through to peak-time techno that will light up any dance floor.

Not abandoning his famed Trance roots, Sander van Doorn pushes the scene forward with this collection of cuts that will appeal to a varied audience of dance music fans. Also including a bonus track- a cracking remix of Sia ‘The Girl You Lost To Cocaine’, there is also a hidden track on the CD- if you rewind from Track 1 you should find it!

Highlights include Look Inside Your Head a perfect opener to the album; a distinctively moody and dramatic track that prepares the ground for what’s in store. Sushi and Apple are stripped back yet driving, an indicator to the hybrid minimal-trance sound that is evolving and which wouldn’t be out of place in a James Holden dj set. Next single The Bass is a must for those grimy 4am dance-floor moments, whilst Lobby perfectly illustrates Sander’s ability to completely switch style lanes, a stunningly serene track that feels like you’ve put Doorn in a blender with Massive Attack.

Supernaturalistic is a perfectly executed artist album from Sander van Doorn, one of the futures brightest names in electronic music.

World-renowned duo The Chemical Brothers confirm a headline slot on Sunday’s main stage with their unique blend of psychedelia, and electronic block-rockin’ beats.

The music and artists are not the only thing of exceptional quality, this year will also see a new flock of promoters add their own twist to celebrations: with Dirty Disco, Zane Lowe and Tiga, Ed Banger, Hed Kandi, Fantazia all be hosting their own arenas whilst Metropolis and Drum & Bass Arena take charge of the urban flavours, setting the scene for one of the best party packages on the planet.

Interviews with Lange and Menno De Jong

Happy new year all, hope 2008 brings you love, happiness, blow jobs and a PlayStation 3. Just a few things today, first our annual Dj comp is well underway, sets are available for download here, voting takes place up until the 14th of January so if you’ve entered make sure to get your reviews in before hand or you get disqualified. Also whilst you’re in the poll section why not place votes on various message board subjects like funniest user, most likely to turn queer or have a nervous breakdown and kill themselves... Good fun all round.

Interviews

Early last month I exclusively interviewed Lange regarding his latest album Better Late than Never (which incidentally is superb). Unfortunately like the dozy git I am, I forgot to send a press release, so erm, well kids, there’s an interview with Lange available on the site here. Here’s a few exempts for you;

"MPFS - In your own opinion how has the digital age (mp3/cd mixing) done dance music good or bad?
Lange - You can dress it up as a ‘time of opportunity’ for getting music out there as much as you like, but the bottom line is the digital age has made music more ‘disposable’.  People don’t yurn as much for tracks anymore.  I used to hear a track played by another DJ or on a radio show and try and find it down the record shop (often without success).  These days people will just download it on the day it’s first promo’d.  The net killed the whole promotion structure for building a record, but the music industry was making ridiculous amounts of money anyway so it was due a shake up.  Also music was in the hands of A&R guys who quite frankly weren’t always the best people to chose what ‘got out’ to the public!  So it’s not all bad; beside’s, my back doesn’t ache as much as it used to when I carried all that vinyl around.

MPFS - If you had the chance to do the Olsen twins together whilst Keeley filmed the whole event in the buff whilst pleasuring herself, the only catch was all three of them got to pee all over you, would you do it?
Lange - I don’t do water sports.  Not my thing. Besides, I’m very much in love with my Girlfriend (All say ‘aah’!), so it would be a definite refusal, pee or no pee!"

On the subject of interviews we also managed to stuff Menno De Jong in the boot of my car the other day and forced him to divulge in some Q&A’s for the site also, it can be read here with a few exempts below;

"MPFS - What do you prefer, Dj’ing or being in a club and hearing one of your own tracks/remixes played and the crowd going wild?
Menno De Jong - Well, playing my own track whilst the crowd goes wild is incredible of course. But sometimes it’s nice to lurk in a corner anonymously and see that your music is appreciated when others play it out too! I still really enjoy going to parties in general so I don’t mind both really. Basically hearing your tune in a club is one of the best feelings there is so you can’t go bad either way!

MPFS - What animal would you sooner be, a Lion or a Gorilla? Why?
Menno De Jong - Probably a gorilla, I like to grunt and pound my chest whilst putting on silly faces! I spent some time in South Africa a while ago and my girlfriend and friends had a hard time pulling me away from my newfound monkey family in Kruger park!"

For keeping him locked in the boot for 2 days without food or water we’ve agreed to plug Menno’s podcast in return for not calling the cops on us; god bless you!

Menno de Jong launches Intuition Podcast

EINDHOVEN, NL - Dutch rising trance star Menno de Jong has launched his brand new Intuition Podcast this month, which will replace the immensely popular Intuition Radio Show as of immediately. Intuition has always been at pole position when it comes to innovations in music and media; the undeniable emergence of podcasting was a clear cue for them to take on this recently developed hype, which is swiftly proving it’s here to stay!

Menno explains the motivation behind the big change: “It wasn’t an easy decision since the radio show has been doing exceptionally well, but the more I thought about it the more it made sense, I’ve come to love the whole concept of podcasting because it lets you do much more with the content, and reach many more people with more consistency!” He’s hitting the nail on its head, the options are endless: Listen to the podcast whenever, wherever you want; see the tracklist in iTunes or on your iPod whilst the music plays; enjoy pictures from Menno’s travels and performances and much more.

The musical message of the monthly podcast carries on where the radio shows left off: Trance in the broadest sense of the word. Menno’s mixes always tell a story that will make the longest trainride, work assignment or any other daily drag fly by like a jetfighter! With content varying from studio sets, to live recorded gigs as well as high profile guestmixes the monthly podcast is guaranteed to provide an interesting array of sounds for the electronic dance music enthusiast. Whereas the December edition is a ‘no-nonsense’ studio set with some highly exclusive material as well as several top tunes of the moment, the January Podcast will feature Menno’s traditional Intuition Yearmix, covering his favourite tracks of 2007.

How do you subscribe to the Intuition Podcast? It’s very simple:
- Go to www.mennodejong.com
- If you already have iTunes installed, click on the iTunes banner (Podcast Feeds)

If you don’t have iTunes installed or want to check out the Intuition Podcast using another player simply check out the Podcast FAQ on Menno’s website.
