Apollonia is the brainchild of Tania Mann and Peter Dafnous. Their first release was the uplifting masterpiece 'Andromeda Heights' on A State of Trance in 2004. Now Will Holland's Enhanced Recordings bring us the follow up.
Original Mix
This kicks off with a hard kick and strong baseline with swirling effects in the background for good measure! The build up of the track is really melodic and emotional and the breakdown follows on with more of the same when the main riff kicks in. Unlike a lot of follow ups, Peter & Tania have only kept one effect from the previous song. However I did really enjoy the diverse bassline in Andromeda Heights and think that this is a little too generic for my liking.
Activa VS Will Holland Remix
This remix isnt incredibly different from the original mix, but is built up longer and the peak euphoricness after the drop is prolonged as much as possible in order to make a the track a DJ friendly length. I love the mini breaks section just before the second mini drop. I think it would have been nice if this mix had been slightly more diverse, but it does appeal to me and this is definately the mix I would use out.
This is a decent follow up to 'Andromeda Heights', but is a little too generic for my liking. I feel that the original mix is a little long and that perhaps a more diverse baseline could have been used to make it different to a lot of the trance we are hearing these days. However, like I said, I do like the remix and would definately drop it in a warm up trance set.
