Motorcycle - As the Rush Comes (Armin van Buuren remix)
When you're asked to name the most talked about tune at the end of the year, 2003
isn't going to be much of a head-scratcher. Gabriel and Dresden's reputation over the past
18 months has grown from Mole hills to Everest style peaks and this is the tune that has
thurst them well and truely onto the map.
Co-incide that with the fact that one of the biggest names in trance has turned in his
best performance on knob twiddling duties for months is on the case, the product almost
certainly lives up to the hype.
The Armin mix is a steriod induced pumped up version of the original. It remains
trippy but the bassline bulges in places where you never thought possible. Under a solid four
to the floor kick, the energy created here transcends to new levels. The soaring strings
remain, the beat is typically Van Buuren, but definitely not formulaic. The essence of the
vocal is brought to life beautifully and under the right circumstances may bring you close
to tears during the breathy breakdown which whisps like a sweaty climax before those tenacious
synths fall right back in.
If you ever wondered how trance can be this euphoric without an arpegator, look no
further than As the rush comes in, the clue is in the title and this is near perfection.
