Lightscape - Inner-Warmth
Black Hole Recordings
Catalogue Number: 168-5
Well another release on the fine Black Hole label and this time the first release from
Lightscape. Onto the vinyl and this time you get the following:
A1) Inner-Warmth (Original Mix)
B1) Inner-Warmth (Phynn's Overheated Mix)
Starting with the Original Mix and this begins with a skippy almost funky style beat to
get things going. Much more mellow than a lot of recent Black Hole releases and is more
of a progressive trance style track and great for warm up sets. The drums drop to a nice
bassline as vocal snippets of oohs and ahhs drift in and out. Layers of synths build along
with pads to lift the atmosphere with this classy tune until the break at 2:38 or so. The
main synth riff comes in, arpeggiated with layers of pads behind which is perfect for early
crowds. The main vocal snippet 'Don't hold back the music better let it move ya' comes in
and the beats and bassline drop back in. A lush bit of mellow progressive trance which
works well in early sets - in fact I played it during my warmup the other weekend and it
seemed to go down well.
Over onto the B side and the Phynn remix. A lot of you will know Phynn from his awesome
work on the Fictivision Vs Phynn track Escape, also coming out soon on the ITWT sub-label
from Black Hole. Anyway this starts off with a nice driving beat similar to his other work
alongside an arpeggiated bassline as bleeps and fx drop in in the background. The drop at
around the 3 minute mark uses the original riff but in a much more uplifting peaktime sound
and this mix is the one I'll be using for peaktime sets.
Another good release from Black Hole. I won't go as far as saying essential because I can
imagine a lot of people not going for the use of the vocal and indeed, maybe a dub mix
without the vocal would be a good idea as well. Personally I think it works well here and
I'll be using the original mix on my next warmup cd thats for sure. Definitely worth checking
as the Phynn mix is also pretty damn good.
