John graham has been isntrumental in pushing the progressive scene forward over the years.
Rowan Blades is renowned for churning out quality under his own guises and collaborations
with the scene's big movers. So a joint venture between the two is something to savour.
Having worked on several projects in recent months, this summer saw the first of their
efforts surface. 'Real' was a no-nonsense "does what it says on the tin" dancefloor record.
Unashamed of its roots. 'Funky Summa' though brings something of a different nature to the
party. And the party is where this record belongs.
Whilst its straight-up dancefloor appeal cannot be denied, it encapsulates everything that
is great about striving to be creative and eveything that the genre should be. It's a tune
that's hard to categorise. It's funky, but pounds along at a fair old pace. A really cool
breakbeat rides on top of the beats, as guitars and various electro tinged sounds enter the mix.
This all builds towards a lush breakdown which oozes warmth thanks in part to the addition of
a a breathy female vocal. The tune then proceeds to deliver more of the same, as all the
elements intoduced before the break weave themselves into the groove leaving you hooked.
