Following the massive success of 'Summerdream' and 'Skyline', amongst various other sucessful hits in recent years, ever rising multinational production duo Kuffdam & Plant return with with this brooding trance monster, courtesy of Connected Music. The original mix is quite a dark affair, driven along by powerful techy synths and a tough bassline; certainly a far cry from the fluffy feel-goodness of Summerdream. At around halfway into the 10-minute duration, the track evolves into a tough breakbeat-fuelled breakdown, where hints of an explosive melody become apparent. However, these are soon ditched for a full on driving tech-trance bosh-a-thon in the latter half of the track, as many of the buildup elements come together to create a climax at around 8 minutes in.
The flipside offers a remix from Sassot, which offers a not totally dissimilar approach to the original in terms of style; dark driving trance with a techy feel. Perhaps slightly less driving than the original, but still energetic; substituting the raw power for extra melodic elements and an overall more trancey feel... more suited to peaktime sets.
Overall I can't fault this release; both mixes are solid and do what they set out to do well. Definitely worthy of a purchase for those who like their trance at the darker techier end of the spectrum - a sound which looks set to be huge in 2006!
