Atlantic – Dandelion Crush
Alternative Route Recordings
Catalogue Number: Somatic018
Desyn Maseillo’s Alternative Route label was the home of some of 2005’s finest records. Chris Lake’s ‘Changes’ ended the year on a high, following the long overdue release of Hiratzka and Kazell’s immensely popular Venice Dawn
Matthew Roberts and Matt Thomas are the guys behind King Unique and here, Atlantic. If there was ever any doubt over whether Alternative Route could sustain the quality of last year’s offerings it is soon dispelled upon hearing the A side. Roberts and Thomas have crafted a lovely warm summery gem of a tune with Dandelion Crush, displaying an exceptional ear for detail and clever use of effects to create this record’s wonderful floating feeling. A saxophone becomes the main feature of the melody and adds a nostalgic vibe to the track. I can’t think of many people who wouldn’t enjoy relaxing to the blissful grooves on show here
Bush II Bush supply the remix, grabbing hold of the original and injecting it with another layer of energy. It’s after the break that the saxophone enters the fray. Here it’s used to carry the remainder of the track pushing towards a brilliant climax that will have you grinning from ear to ear
The King Unique team are two very talented young artists and Alternative Route has become a very special label indeed
