Way out west - Anything but you
Distinctive Records
Catalogue Number: DISN131
First off let me say this is my first ever digital download courtesy of those fine folk at
Distinctive Records.
Since my musical preference shift earlier this year I've not downloaded/listened too much to
be honest. Positiva send me the odd promo here and there, thankfully not the cheesey trance
bull shit you'd expect, but quality funky house... however my taste is aiming towards breaks
n beats...
It’s all about Hybrid at the moment. I'm playing catch up so I’ve spent the last couple of
months scouring every p2p network I know of searching for "hybrid live". If there’s a track
that stands out I’ll ask around for the track ID and get on the case.
It was whilst looking for a particular track (Metisse - Sousounde) that I came upon this gem
from Way out west. And what a gem it is.
Ok take a step back in time for a moment. Go back to the year 2001/2002 when Mindcircus
touched down and brightened all our lives. Was it those beautiful vocals that had us hooked?
Or that it didn’t sound like every other track on the circuit? Either way we loved it, for
me, an all time classic.
Fast forward to now and we have a track that we'll all try to link to Mindcircus in one way
or another, but shouldn't... It’s very different.
Simple, effective, straight to the point, three ways to describe this before we get to the
vocals (correct me if I'm wrong, Space Brothers vocalist?)
There’s no fluffiness about this, dark n moody at points, but certainly not fluffy. The
vocals seem some what more sincere, like they were sung in honesty, reflecting the vocalist's
true emotions.
This truly is a beautiful track. You'll probably never play it out unless it’s to open with,
but then I don’t think that’s the intended result, this is purely for listening pleasure.
If your struggling to buy your loved ones those last minute presents forget about em, get
yourself this beast, you won’t regret it. Stunning.
