| Digital Deliquents - Forever Equilibrium Records Catalogue Number: EQU008 Another nice new release from Kris and the guys over at Equilibrium
this time from the team known as Digital Deliquents. You might remember
these from their awesome bootleg of Veracocha - Carte Blance last
year which went down a storm all over clubland so I was very interested
to hear this, their first real release. Onto the vinyl and you get the following: A) John O'Callaghan MixB) Gareth Emery (GTR) Mix
Well a very promising package remix-wise so onto the tune. Starting
off with the John O'Callaghan mix, this starts with a nice kick
with bubbling squelchy synth fx in the background. A vocal choir
type chord kicks into a small drop at around the minute or so mark
as a lush driving bassline joins in the fray with layers of synths
over the top. Bleeping synth fx drop in behind alongside snippets
of the choir like vocal and layers of pads as the tune builds and
builds. The pads drop away to the bassline and the main vocal begins.
The vocal works really well - a haunting almost Kate Bush like vocal
which works really well alongside John's layers of synths. The main
breakdown comes as the vocals drop away to powerful layers of synth
pads and the chorus of the vocal drops. Layers of synthy chord stabs
kick in over the vocal, building and building and then the tune
kicks back in with a vengeance. This will be an absolute stormer
at places like Passion where I can see it taking the roof off big
time. Sure-fire front of the box material this one that's for sure. Over onto the B side and the GTR mix. This starts with a tough
kickdrum and bassline soon joined by a tough gated snare and reversed
hats. A nice arpeggiated synthy bassline drops in over the top of
the deeper original and then drops away just before the 1 min 30
mark to layers of synth chords and layers of synths as it builds
towards the break. The tune drops away to the main chord riff, with
layers of pads behind building the atmosphere. A second drop around
the 6 minute mark lifts the atmosphere again to really take off
the roof. Again a real piece of peaktime trance and if you don't
go for the vocal you might like this as it only features small snippets
of the vocal and GTR fans will love this remix that's for sure. Overall then another great release from Equilibrium. Their last
release is still sitting in my box and this one will be joining
it immediately. For me, the JOC mix presses all the right buttons
and will be getting played out at the earliest opportunity. If the
vocal doesn't grab you then definitely check the GTR with its lush
synths and epic feel. Another UK label which is going from strength
to strength with its releases - highly recommended. View comments here
