Jan Gustafsson - Hallucination
Fundamental Recordings
Catalogue Number: GALSO005
Not a lot of info on this one I'm afraid as it's a white and the sleeve just contains a
sticker with the title and catalogue number on it. Anyway it's the forthcoming release
from the Galactive sub-label of Fundamental following on from the awesome Primolux -
Turnpoint which I've been playing in almost every set for the last 2 or 3 months.
Starting off with the A side, this starts with a nice crisp beat and mellow synth chord
stabs in the background with swirling fx. It's soon joined by a nice arpeggiating
bassline and after a minute or so a nice synth riff drops in over the top as the tune
starts to build. After a short drop, it kicks back in and soon layers of pads fade in
behind the synths and bass as the tune builds towards the break with layers of squelchy
bleeps and fx layered in the background. As the tune drops we go to some atmospheric
layered strings and the synth riff begins to build and works really well. This would work
excellently in an early peaktime set as its mellow but yet has a good strong beat - great
stuff.
Onto the B and this starts with a couple of synth chord stabs shortly joined by a nice
beat, layed with congas and other nice percussion to keep things interesting. Again a
nice arpeggiating bassline soon comes in, followed by open hi-hats and other percussion
as the tune starts to build. The backing drops away to the beat and synths as the tune
powers back in.
Another great release from Galactive who along with Fundamental are kicking out some
storming tracks at the moment. Both sides are quality through and through and you're sure
to find one you like - highly recommended.
