Gill Norris - Forme
Precinct Recordings
Catalogue Number: PREC001
Well I've been lucky enough to grab a copy of this, the first release from what looks
to be another new progressive label. Not much more info on the label atm as I only get
a holding page on their webby but will update this if I can source any more info.
The promo CD-R contains the following:
1. Original Mix
2. Leama & Moor Mix
Starting with the Original mix, a lush almost bleepy synth riff begins proceedings and
is soon joined by a mellow beat. Very nicely chilled synthy prog is on the menu here and
very nice it is too. Mellow beats and the haunting synth melody makes this perfect for
opening up a nice warmup set in my case although I can imagine the prog fans who like
their tunes with a little more melody will be loving this too.
However, it's over on the second mix where my interest really begins to pick up. I'm a
HUGE fan of Leama & Moor stuff so I was looking forward to checking this out. This starts
with some nice crisp beats and after 30 secs the haunting bleepy melody drifts over the
top as mellow string chords accompany them. I'm loving the bassline which comes in at about
the 1 minute mark - this is a sure-fire play for me in warmup sets. The percussion here is
much crisper and typical Leama & Moor style - lush layers of arpeggiating synths build
throughout the break at around the 4.45 mark. Class production and this is the mix I'm
going to be playing. Definite candidate for my next warmup cd that's for sure - prog fans
should check this out.
A very promising release for this new label - check it.
