Wally Lopez remix
When I first opened my mail and pulled out the double vinyl pack I wasn’t sure.
Alex Cartana is a name I've never heard before and anyone who knows me knows I'm extremely
picky about my music. Thankfully upon the back of said vinyl the name Wally Lopez stuck out
like a clown at a funeral. Sweeeeeet. Wally Lopez couldn’t be any more on the ball if he
tried! With eager fingers I slammed the needle on the deck and braced myself for what could
only be a fine piece of music. Did it deliver? Pfffft, course it did!
A sweet lengthy intro throws the vocals around from all directions whilst a tasty
percussion stabs every so often shaping the track to brilliance. The breakdown must surely
appeal across the boarder. The percussion still stabs away whilst a simple bass pattern forms
in the background creeping from quiet to loud, new vocals follow the familiar chorus adding
more depth. When the beat drops back in the percussion takes the lime light, throwing its
weight at every available opportunity. Strings follow; lush strings enough “umph” to hold the
track on its own.
Wonderful, absolutely wonderful, a must have for funky fans.
Ross Ortons ragga that big buddy remix
The title of the remix says it all, this is NOT dance as we know it! However this
should not rule out picking it up and having a listen. Whilst it’s almost certain you’ll
never play within the confides of a club it doesn’t take away the fact it’s actually really
good. The drums are shockingly heavy and distorted to a level it’s clearly apparent (which is
in no means a bad thing!)
The vocals, sweet as they are, take a serious beating with an effects console,
distorted, reverb and the rest, absolute brilliance.
Its short, it’s more than sweet and well worth a listen.
