John O'Callaghan - Dynamix
Catalogue Number: CD-R
I first became aware of this awesome producer when Daimen from this board provided me with a
copy of his remix of the Elude track Pergatory for me to play out. I was seriously impressed
with that remix and that kicked me into scouting around on Tranceaddict and getting more
interested in some of the up and coming producers from the site. Anyway, John had kindly posted
a link to a sample of Dynamix his new tune and at my request he's now kindly provided me with a
full quality version to play out - yay!!
Anyway back to the tune. Starts with nice strong beat with quiet acidy synths bubbling away in
the background then at 45 secs in boom off we go! Full on driving bassline with arpeggiated synths
running in the background and I'm now seriously impressed. The track builds towards the break at the
1:50 mark and drops to layers and layers of resonant acidy synths then in comes the riff - simply
stunning is the only way I can describe it. The best way I think is it's kinda Above & Beyond
in their Aalto vibe but with more balls (hope you don't mind the comparison John ). I love the
layers of acidy synths running in the background all bubbling in and out - pure class and the main
riff really shines. I also love the break at around the 7 minute mark with the change in beat just
before the track heads towards the outro which I think really works well.
This is going straight onto CD-R to play out as I think personally it's the strongest production
I've heard from John to date. Anyone still calling JOC an 'amateur' producer should seriously check
the sample of this tune here
cos there is NOTHING amateur about this production. If I heard this in a shop on vinyl I'd snatch
their hands off and I've already been yelling at Daimen to sign it before someone else does!!
This could be the track to catapult John well into the pro league.
