Kyamoto - Stealth

ATCR

Catalogue Number: TCOM042CD

Well another great track from Mark Versluis and Henrik Christensen hits my doormat, this time on the massive ATCR label in the shape of 'Stealth'. This time we have Miika & Jussi of the awesome 'Reginellla' fame plus Joni Ljungqvist on remix duties so I was well looking forward to checking this one out.

Original Mix

A acidy synth fires this off soon to be joined by a nice kick and filtering pads stabs and you know from the off this means business. A driving synth line drifts in over the bassline as the tune starts to build layer on layer - class. A vocoded vocal then the tune kicks in fully and we're talking full-on peak time trance mayhem. The spacey vocoded vox work so well over the lush layers of synths as it powers on towards the break at just before the 2:30 mark. The beats drop away as the filtering stabby pads then the main synth riff drops in - awesome stuff. The tough acidy synthline comes in underneath as layers upon layers of pads and synths join the proceedings before the snare roll and boom the tune kicks back in and you just know the crowd are gonna be going absolutely crazy to this.

Miika & Jussi Mix

This starts off with a nice crisp kick and perc as a mellow acidy synthline drifts in from behind then is joined by a driving bassline. A mellow arpeggiated synth line then drops in along with layers of haunting choral pads as the tune then begins to build. The main synth riff from the Original mix sneakily drops in then lush stabbing synth chords join the fray and wow this is something else. Similar in style to their recent Reginella track, the layers of stabby synths just really lift this up and give it a completely different vibe from the original until the beats drop away to the spacey vocoded vox at around the 3 minute mark. A gorgeous square wave synth riff drops in from the background in the break to lift the emotion and again give this remix something a little bit different and boy does it work as the stabby synth chords begin to build, the acidy bassline jumps back in and the beat kicks in once again.

JPL Mix

Nice different style of start on this one. A great squelchy bassline and kick drum starts things on this remix. The layers of percussion again begin to build as the vocoded vox come in with layers of pads taking this a slightly more melodic vibe. Bubbly acidy synths drift in beneath and gorgeous string pads again make this remix a great peaktime track. The break comes with a dreamy flute like synth riff again giving this a nice variation from the original but yet still as pumping for the floor. Fans of a more mellow melodic style are sure to love this.

Overall then, I'd say trance fans are spoilt with another great release from ATCR. I'm a massive fan of pretty much all their releases, but this for me is the strongest release from then in a while. The Original mix is outstanding in it's own right and the remixes from Miika & Jussi and JPL are bound to appeal to those wanting some variation. I've already played this on both my ETN.FM and RiseFM.com shows to great feedback and the Miika & Jussi mix was my Big Tune Of The Week on last week's RiseFM show and rightly so. Anyone still moaning about trance seriously needs to check this out - absolutely essential stuff.
