For the purpose of this review I'll be reviewing the most popular mix, the one played time and time again on Dave Pearce Dave Anthems, the 7” mix.

It was some time ago, around 94 I believe when 2 unlimited took the world by storm with their UK number 1 No Limits. It was shit, there's no denying it, however for a 13 year old school boy who listened to old Kylie Minouge albums as well as his sisters Take That CD, it was a welcome break from manufactured bullshit aimed at destroying the minds of young girls everywhere. That was the start of it for me, the “Rave” days. Prodigy, Culture Beat and Baby D tantalized my taste buds and I wanted more.

Around 95/96 time there were only two ways a young “raver” can go, the club route, following Boy George and all his homosexuality antics, or happy hardcore, white gloves, work mans jackets and a strange fascination for gritting your teeth and hugging everyone. I chose the latter route!

Of course, in 98/99 when the Happy Hardcore scene as I knew it fell flat on its face it was time to jump onto this trance bandwagon I'd be hearing so much about. But how does some one who doesn’t look a day over 12 have access to this latest phenomenon? Dave Pearce’s weekly show on Radio 1 was the key, Dance Anthems rocked my world. It was here where I took note of this fantastic piece of old skool club music, don’t get me wrong I'd heard it before, many times, but never really appreciated it.

By today’s standards its godly awful, vocal shyte aimed at those who look old enough to get into Ritzys, to them, this stuff would be the cream of trance music, up there with flip n fill and those arseholes that ripped off Pretty Green Eyes.

Of course its not today’s standards, this is a decade old and it’s as beautiful now as it was then. Those familiar club sounds that kick in from the first break down or gone but not forgotten, I loved those notes! The vocals, pah, we aren’t paying attention to the vocals, that is, until the pitch of the birds voice picks up and she breaks into chorus. It’s almost like Christmas listening to this again! Crank up the volume and you can almost see the glamour of the old days (by this I mean what I saw on all those old adverts for Ministry of Sound CD’s) with attractive women from corner to corner shakin their ass and NOT gurning their tits off.

I wish, wish I were old enough to of been a part of these days, along with some other beauty’s like Strike – U Sure Do, Hyper Go Go – High and maybe even N Trance – Set U Free, I think id of been happier “largin” it up then than I am now.

An absolute classic, even if you can’t attach any memories to it, it’s still hard not to think of days gone by.
