MIDOR & Six4Eight featuring Dj Precision - Far East

Somatic

Catalogue Number: SOMATIC003

Well I've been very lucky enough to source an upfront copy of the 3rd release from this upcoming label run by Pascal Van Eijk aka DJ Precision. Some of you may already be familiar with the collaboration's first release Seventh Heaven/Cloud City which was nothing short of stunning and still sitting in my box months later. For the new one, we have the original mix of 'Far East' on the a side with the Empyreal Sun Remix on the reverse.

Anyway onto the tune and firstly the original mix. Kicks in with a nice strong beat and nice crisp percussion then a nice bouncin synth line kicks in some resonant synth stabs and already I'm thinking this is gonna be quality. Then the bassline drops in and drives the beauty along nicely. Very similar in tempo/style to begin with to Cloud City and from my point of view that's no bad thing - this screams quality from the word go. Nice little synthy chords bring up the mood and then it drops back to the bassline with a lovely arpeggiated synth, lifting with accompanying strings as the go towards the break. Boooom the break kicks in and OMFG - what a riff!! A synthy koto type sound with a riff which Solarstone would be proud of! In fact the best way to describe this tune is Solarstone with balls!. Twangy bass synths and strings kick in, the snares roll and we drop back in with a bang. The whole tune is brilliantly uplifting and will work well anywhere in a good trance set - stunning, simply stunning.

Over onto the b side and Empyreal Sun (aka Inzite) turn in a quality remix. Nice long percussive intro which is nice for DJs like me who like nice long transitions between tracks. Nice pumping bassline and synths although for me doesn't have quite the power of the original mix. Having said that, still a lush bit of trance and I'd probs play this maybe in an earlier set where you don't want the emotional power of the original mix. The main riff is made more filterered here with a more high passed filter sound but with nice synth strings accompanying the riff - very nice indeed. Empyreal Sun/Inzite are doing some great remix work at the moment with their remix of Ozone - Rock being particularly good.

In conclusion if you love trance then you NEED this tune it's as simple as that. Somatic Sense are going from strength to strength - at the moment I've got all three of their releases in my box and I can't say that for many other labels and when you bear in mind their 1st release was in August 2003 that's nothing short of amazing. If they keep this quality up trance DJs will be a very happy bunch indeed.
