Noel Sanger feat. Dauby - My Prayer

Another victim of the mini label collapse that plagued the industry a couple of years back, this Noel
Sanger production finally sees a release, more than three years after it was originally conceived.
Despite the core idea showing its age, harking back to a time when the progressive side of house music
was beginning to find melody again after its minimal/tribal phase, the original is a smooth vocal ride
which even now is still instantly recognisable as being Noel.s. It.s not really worth describing how the
track works, as its very nature means its probably a love it or hate it scenario for most, depending on
how deep your affection for emotive vocals goes. If you.re indifferent to a pleasant female voice (in
this case the voice of Noel.s own wife, Dauby) telling us about her desire to be in your arms, then it.s
little more than average fare. If however this kind of tune is your thing, then it.s a fine effort the
glides along and lingers in the mind long after the final beat has dropped. When you consider the age
of the original production, this is a truly fine addition to Mr Sanger.s impressive catalogue.
By the end of the a-side, this is a release that could still go either way. A strong remix to add to
the impressive original and it.s a must own piece of vinyl. Something rather haphazard and it becomes
nothing special. Probspot it seems opted to take things down the latter route. It.s much less reflective
and more upbeat than the original, which takes the emphasis off the vocals slightly by adding some strings,
some small fx and a huge drop that leads into the final part of the track. There.s no need to describe
the bassline or the arrangement of the percussion here for obvious reasons. It.s not a terrible waste of
a remix by any means and will surely find favour amongst those who enjoy the more progressive sound of trance,
Probspot has become known for churning out. Yet despite this, there.s a real lack of any soul to it. It
feels lazy, as if Probspot felt there was no need to push the boat out or do anything over and above that
which was required. It.s as if he doesn.t care. Why should anyone else?.
