Questia - Crystal Clouds
Armada Music
Catalogue Number: ASOT005
Armin's ASOT (A State Of Trance) label yet again proves itself one of the most reliable
trance labels of 2003 with another fine release. This is another production from fine producer
Vincent De Moor who has supplied us with many awesome tunes over the years and I'm pleased to
say this one keeps up the tradition.
If you've checked and loved his other recent ASOT release under the Questia guise,
Nexus Asia, might be surprised to find this is much more mellow, uplifting and anthemic than the
aforementioned track. Whilst I preferred to play Nexus Asia towards the end of my sets, this
favours more of an early set position as it's not quite such a power trance track, but this is
no bad thing as I'll get to in a moment.
It starts with some mellow strings (so is great for a set opener) and synths before bringing
in the bassdrum alongside the nice chilled melody. The nice throbbing bass riff then kicks in and
away we go - lovely. The track nicely builds and builds and the main organy riff begins to come in
from the background until we hit the breakdown which is real hands in the air stuff and one I can't
wait to play out. The track kicks back in with a vengeance, arpeggiated synths alongside the main
synth riff and the crowd are sure to love this baby.
On the reverse side, Evolving Moods is another nice production although not one I'll personally
be playing a great deal. It's nice, but doesn't have that grab factor of Crystal Clouds. A Subsphere
mix of Crystal Clouds is also included here, which is much more mellow and could be handy for a warmup set.
In summary then another brilliant release from ASOT. This is a sure one for the box for months to
come and if you like your trance emotional and uplifting, an essential purchase.
