Rah - Pole Position/Seven (Airbase Mixes)

Platipus Records

Catalogue Number: eplat005

Well another release from the ever busy Jezper Söderlund on the Platipus Euro label under his Rah alias. I loved his last release Wave on this label so I was looking forward to hearing some more goodies as I'm a huge fan of Jezper's work with numerous of his tracks and remixes regularly in my box (Ozone - Rock is another track almost glued in there atm).

First up is Pole Position and as we can expect from Jezper you get nice tight percussion and a nice intro to mix into. Nice reversed percussion (a snare?) add to the atmosphere with a lovely little synth riff to accompany proceedings. The main lead is a nice organ-like sound which works well over the backing and the track builds nicely to the break. The synth riff drops then we have some awesome staccato synth chords which really lift the power of the track. Top quality trance as I've come to expect from Jezper

Over to the b side and we get to my favourite of the two tracks, Seven. This starts with some nice atmospheric string chords then the bassdrum kicks in with a nice resonant bass synth. A cheeky sample of what sounds remarkably like the beat from Alcatraz - Give Me Luv goes over the bassdrum and I think works really well, especially when the other hi-hats and percussion slowly layer over the top. A lush synth riff drops in over the top as we build to the break - if you like Firewall - Sincere check this out as I think it's kinda similar in style - love it! The track drops to a break with some bass piano chords and simply awesome synth strings then OMFG - a riff to die for. Hairs on the back on the neck BIG TIME!! Seriously this is one of those 3am tunes which you're gonna hear out and go - wow wtf is this!! Not because its a banging power tune, but because it's just beautiful emotional trance at its finest. Sure to be a staple tune in my box for some months to come - love it!!!

Check this out - although I'm favouring the Seven track atm both sides are simply quality and again show Jezper to be one of the most productive and talented trance producers out there at the moment.
