Steve Callaghan - Shelter
Abora
Abora Recordings is back and is concentrating on promoting new up and coming artists. First up is Steve Callaghan's Shelter which has recieved support from Above & Beyond, Menno De Jong, Jon O'Bir, Marc West, Andy Bagguley, Yaz, Graham Gold, Frase, John Wright & loads more!
Original Mix
This mix starts off really nice and mellowed out. The baseline comes in after a minute and there are broken up vocals which help to build the track up nicely. The main breakdown is very chilled out and uses very emotive chord changes. Its a very nice chillout style prog mix which would fit perfectly into a warm up set.
The Remixes
First up is Evasive's Remix. Evasive is label owner Joe Wardle and has been getting a lot of praise for his recent production 'Rae of Sun' which has been playlisted by the great Tiesto. Here he takes the original mix and turns in a pumping rework which is perfect for a peaktime set. I absolutely love the way the vocals are used in this and the main riff is enhanced beautifully by the chosen chords. This is an absolutely stunning remix and really compliments the original nicely.
Frase's Four Walls Remix shows just how far this young man has come over the last year. It is technically flawless. The only thing I would really change is perhaps to make it more DJ friendly by removing the riff from the beginning and extending the mix slightly. But overall this mix is another superb production and adds another dimension to the track.
A very impressive debut release from Abora and Steve Callaghan. I expect to be hearing all three mixes of this out and about!
