Tarentella Feat Saffron - Columbia
Whoop
Catalogue Number: WHO75
Well another release from Whoop Records, this time a nice new production from the Tarrentella guys (and yes
I have checked the spelling on the vinyl before you ask) on a nice promo. Here we have the following mixes:
A) Columbia (Original Mix)
B) Columbia (Redanka Dub)
We'll start out with the Original mix and boy what a lovely dark trippy bit of vocal prog we have here! It
begins with a haunting sweeping synth and then the tribal-like drums kick in over the top. I can imagine this going
down a storm with the likes of Lawler or Tenaglia - nice 6am in the morning music for dark rooms indeed. Small
spoken snippets drop in as the percussion builds then the vocal talents of Saffron come in 'You're a faker...money
maker' to haunt you. I'm gonna be using this in nice warmup tune for a while that's for sure. The vocal is almost
punk style shouted type vocals and the little bubbling synth riffs are really sweet - love it. For those of you
who think I always play uplifting trancey stuff - you're wrong!
Over onto the b side and we have the Redanka dub. This is much more uplifting and obviously being a dub
only contains very small snippets of the vocal which drop in and out in the background. This has a quality almost
funky bassline in it which will fit really well in a prog/trance warmup set to get things moving and be sure to check
this if you don't like the dark vocals.
A fine release from Whoop records and definitely one for the prog fans to check out.
