Terrafusion - Beyond / Essence
Equilibrium
Beyond
Terrafusion is the duo of RJ Thorne & Omar Avila. Beyond is certainly their biggest production to date. It has been gaining more and more popularity at every club its been played in and Markus Schulz has also dropped the Under Sun Remix on his Global DJ Broadcast Show. The Original mix starts off with a pounding kick and fades the bassline in really smoothly. Its one of those records which just builds and builds till the breakdown. In this instance, there is a mini breakdown which allows for a nice riff to be added which increases the build up well. The breakdown is brilliant. It has a really dark deep panned out feel to it at first which then changes as the melody kicks in and the chords change. The main riff is added and it builds up to the drop. This is a superb production and has had a huge effect everywhere its been played out.
The Under Sun Remix has taken things in a very different direction. It has a much more progressive feel to it and has even added an electro guitar for the base! It has a much more dreamy feel to it and to be frank, it sounds nothing like the Original! But I still quite like the diversity it has and its a track I would certainly play out in a warm up set.
Essence
The Original Mix comes in at a whopping twelve and a half minutes! It is structured very similarly to 'Beyond' until the breakdown which takes up a good part of the track! It just builds and builds and builds. Some people are not a fan of the long break, but it shows what a damn fine producer you have to be to be able to do something like that and still keep the listener interested which this certainly does. This is another track which will have maximum impact on the dancefloor regardless of the long breakdown. There is a fantastic flange effect used after the breakdown which I feel really enhances the main riff well. Its another superb production which has had support from galaxy FM's Paul Kershaw and was also No 1 on Manuel Le Saux's Top 20 Show on ETN.
The Isoterra Remix is a much more club friendly version which has cut out the long breakdown and concentrates on providing optimum dancefloor damage. It is slower than the original and the main riff has been stripped right back which gives the track a much softer feel.
This is a sublime first release for Terrafusion. Both tracks have had a decent amount of support from some big name DJs and this should do really well when released in a few weeks.
