Timeok - Sparkling Temptation
Above the Sky
Catalogue Number: ABOVE014
Well another release from the ever productive Above The Sky label. This time a collaboration between Swiss
trance producer Timeok and Andy Prinz. I've been lucky enough to have a test pressing of these for a few weeks now
and have given it a good hammering out and about. The vinyl contains the following mixes:
a) DJ Precision, MIDOR & Six4Eight Remix
b) Original Mix
Well I have to say as soon as I heard we have a nice remix by the stunning Dj Precision, MIDOR & Six4Eight
guys (read my previous review on their last release 'Far East' to see I love these guys' work!!) I was over the moon.
Sticking the vinyl onto the deck and cranking it up we check out their latest remix. Starting with some nice pumping
beats it's obvious as soon as the nice filtered bass synths drop in that it's looking like a typical quality production
again! The bassline drops in and really kicks this off - we're talking lush fast-paced trance of an almost Goa-trance
style. Layers of arpeggiated synths drop in over the mix and drive this baby on - this proper full on driving trance
with none of the fluff you find in some of the more uplifting tunes of late. There are no long-winded breakdowns, only
short drops then the beats kick right back in again - lovely. I've dropped this a few times in recent weeks and every
time it's gone down a storm - get this NOW!!
Over to the b side and we're checking the Original mix. This begins a slightly mellower affair but keeping
the nice filtered bass synth riff which we have on the a side. The beats are not quite so driving but it's a nice
piece of trance nonetheless. Small synth riffs drop in over the top with a slight organy touch and we drop into the
breakdown which is nice and synthy - liking this as well. I can see this mix fitting well into the early part of a
peak time set whereas the previous mix is full-on peak time heads-down stomping trance.
Another massive release from the Above The Sky label and another sure-fire tune for the front of the box.
This label is going from strength to strength at the moment and has to be in my top 5 labels at the moment. Be sure
to check this out - you're bound to find one of the two mixes which is right up your street.
