Auriane - Soundwave
TRR
Catalogue Number: TRR003
Another release from Andy Bagguley and Genix's TRR label, this time a collaboration
between Perry O'Neil and Ferruccio Trebaldi under their Auriane alias. Both these guys
are talented producers in their own right so I was looking forward to checking this out.
Onto the vinyl and you get the following:
A1) Original Mix
B1) Genix Mix
Starting with the original mix, and this begins with a nice kick drum and light percussion.
Additional layers of percussion then at around the 30 seconds mark this is joined by a nice
sweepin bass synth as we start to get things moving. A short drop just before the minute
mark and then a tough stabby bassline kicks with a distinctive sound. A short synth riff
drops in over the bassline as the tune starts to build more towards the break just after
the 2 minute mark. The synth riff filters in with the main riff as dark bass synth stabs
come in underneath and then the bassline and beat kicks back in. Definitely a nice peaktime
number this one.
Over onto the b side and the Genix mix. This begins with dark pad which is soon joined by
a lush arpeggiated synth riff over the top and soon a nice kick and percussion get things
moving nicely. A short drop at around the 1:25 mark and more layers of synths and pads
build the atmosphere beautifully. A big synth riff begins to filter in from the background
and then this drops away to a mellow arpeggiated riff and then to silence....a delaying
synth riff begins to filter in and then is overlayed by a powerful synth riff and then the
beat kicks back in again. Definitely slightly more of a progressive trance sound than on
the original mix, the lush layers of pads and synths really work well on this remix -
great work.
Overall another top release for TRR and the guys. I've been lucky enough to have this a
good while now and I've been playing it regularly at both the end of early sets and in
more peaktime sets and it's always gone down well. The original mix works well for
peaktime sets with the Genix great for the end of a warmup set or early in a peak set
and the intro for the Genix mix also makes a nice set starter. Check it.
