Kyamoto - Frosted
TRR
Catalogue Number: TRR006
Well what we have here is the latest release from Andy Bagguley and Genix's highly
successful Trance Revolution Recordings label, otherwise known as TRR.
This time a production from Marc Versluis and Henrik Christensen under their Kyamoto
alias, along with a remix by themselved under their Foreign Force alias to top off
the package. Some of you might remember the mayhem all across the trance message
boards when someone got hold of a very early copy of this track and tried to claim
it as their own, but at last the final version is coming out!
Original Mix
This begins with a tough kick and twisting acid synth lines over the top and straight
away you know you're into peaktime trance territory. Layers of arpeggiated synth lines
drop in over the top as the percussion begins to build as the tune powers on towards
the break and snippets of the main riff drop in over the top. Layers of synth pads
lift the emotion and then boom the break drops in around the 4 minute mark, the acidy
synth lines echo around your head and the hands aim for the ceiling. Then it comes - a
massive synth riff over the pads and then the beat kicks back in hard. This is a proper
peak time trancer of the highest order!
Foreign Force Remix
Over to the remix under their Foreign Force alias, and this takes on a whole different
vibe. It begins with a nice tough kick and nice bubbling bassline but more warm and
synthy than the original mix. Lush synth lines drop in over the bassline with sweeping
pads and for me, this is more of an early set vibe but again works beautifully,. The
break comes with lush echoing filtered synths, bouncing around your ears - stunning is
the only word to describe the breakdown. It really is such a completely different vibe
to the original mix its hard to believe they're both done by the same producers!
Overall a fantastic release from TRR - I gave the original mix my Big Tune Of The Week
on last week's RiseFM show and rightly so. The Foreign Force also gives a superb different
take on a great track for earlier sets, but still has enough kick to move any dancefloor.
Essential stuff.
